Development of emotional intelligence in children of preschool and primary school age by methods of art therapy
Abstract
The article investigates the development of emotional intelligence of preschool and primary school age children by methods of art therapy. Art therapy as an innovative technology in the development of emotional intelligence of preschool and primary school age children is considered. It is determined that in the conditions of transformational changes of the Ukrainian society and in particular, reforming of system of education, the development of
emotional intelligence of the person which is necessary for successful socialization and vital activity of the person acquires special value. The direction of art therapy is very closely related to the development of the emotional sphere of the child because it is based on the ability of art to effectively influence the personal growth of the individual in order to correct certain aspects of his self-awareness.
It has been established that in the scientific and pedagogical sense, art therapy is a concern for the emotional state and psychological health of the child. Art therapy methods help to identify the creative potential of each child and find a resource for further development. It has been proven that preschool and primary school age children find it easier to understand their own emotional states that arise in familiar life situations. They cannot embody emotional states in
words, but can project them, for example, in their drawings. The emotional intelligence of the child in this period develops especially intensively, but due to its immaturity in the process of development, it undergoes numerous changes and transformations.It has been established that emotional development at preschool and primary school age has its own specific features which will determine the specifics of the formation of emotional intelligence of a teenager and an adult in future.
