Studio of pop singing in the modern system of art education
Abstract
This article presents the analysis of modern pop-vocal training in Ukraine. It includes various types of educational structures: formal, non-formal, and informal.
In Children’s music schools, the pop solo singing class was introduced at the beginning of the 21st century. State standards for educational programmes suggest regulatory requirements for organizing the process and evaluating the results of vocal education. However, a number of alternative educational establishments function now alongside the formal music education institutions. One can master vocal skills in a Pop singing studio, vocal mastery courses, vocal master classes, and vocal workshops. Educational services of non-formal institutions are targeted at meeting the needs and interests of subjects. Vocal classes are due to a free choice of time, pace, and methods of education. Today, the modern advanced media and entertainment industry offer different variants of informal education. The development of a singing voice can be encouraged by watching vocal video-classes at websites on the internet. Also, a certain vocal experience can be gained
in the process of participation in entertaining interactive programmes organized by the cultural and artistic institutions (museums, concert halls).
The most favourable format of organizing the process of vocal education is the one at the Pop singing studio. The Studio’s educational activities are based on the
principles of democracy, practical orientation of the syllabus, individual approach to the vocal development of a student, openness to people of different ages, usage of the latest technologies and methods of education, high-quality level of material (physical facilities) and non-material (staff) resources. This becomes an important motivational factor for students’ mastering the singing skills and promotes unleashing the creative potential of a person for their subsequent self-development and self-fulfillment in the pop singing genre.
