Reforming secondary education in the days of independence: a system of specialized high school education
Abstract
The article covers the organization of specialized training, strategic objectives of education reform, in particular, general secondary education. The purpose and tasks of profile training are defined. The list of normative documents regulating the reforms of education and general secondary education in Ukraine is given, in particular: Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers «On transition of general educational institutions to a new content, structure and 12-year term of study» (2000), «National Framework of Education Development» (2001), «The concept of specialized education in high school» (2003), Law «On General Secondary Education» (2017), «National Strategy for Education Development until 2021» (2013), «Plan of priority actions of the Government until 2020» (2017) etc. The priority tasks for the introduction of specialized education in school education of Ukraine, which are given in these documents, are outlined. The peculiarities of the process of profiling the content of education in the senior secondary school are determined. The principles on which the profile training is based are outlined: furcations; variability and alternatives; graduality and continuity; flexibility; diagnostic and prognostic feasibility. The curricula of modern general secondary education institutions of Ukraine are analyzed. The changes concerning the system of general secondary education of the profile school are shown.
