Abstract

The article highlights requirements for the formation of elementary school students’ legal knowledge system, which is happening due to a teacher’s searching and selecting elements of this knowledge in the content of all subjects and their further integration into educational and extracurricular activity. The elementary school students’ age specifics and need of constant teacher’s legal training are important aspects of this activity. The peculiarities of the elementary school teacher’s professional activity have been revealed. Since there is not such subject as law in elementary school, the system of students’ legal knowledge is actually formed at the teacher’s initiative. Pedagogical conditions for the development of teacher’s training system aiming at elementary school students’ legal knowledge formation have been substantiated. The integrity of legal component in psychological and pedagogical elementary school teachers’ training implies that the teacher himself selects and interprets facts, which is reflected in students’ minds and is one of aspects of their legal worldview formation. The psychological component of this training includes the teacher’s obligation to properly focus on the impact of his selected examples on children, as in some cases children’s acquaintance with many negative phenomena of society, including criminal chronicles, can lead to mental breakdown. The pedagogical component allows the teacher to thoughtfully use the potential of legal knowledge in a form that corresponds to students’ age capabilities. Differentiation as a means of teachers’ preparation for theforma tion of different levels of elementary school students’ legal knowledge takes into account both natural differentiation of students’ abilities and personal characteristics. The first stage of differentiation in the formation of personal characteristics of a future teacher and his level of pedagogical abilities and capabilities. The second stage shows the teacher’s obligation to differentiate his students’ legal training. Level differentiation involves the following levels: legal knowledge, with which the teacher provides all his students at the lessons; legal knowledge, with which the teacher provides all his students during the extracurricular activity, where there is no special legal training; optional special integrated courses for elementary school students, which are already based on law. It is also advisable to involve students’ parents in this activity. The integral aspect of legal knowledge in the elementary school teachers’ training means that, by forming a students’ legal knowledge system, the teacher has to take into account principles of universal and national culture as well as personal characteristics and values.
