Foreign language education in technical institutions of higher education of the Republic of Poland
Abstract
The article deals with the current condition of foreign language education in technical higher educational institutions in Poland. The development of Polish foreign language education in the context of reforming foreign language studing is described. Curricula and training programs for technical specialists in Polish universities are analyzed. The curricula of technical higher educational institutions in Poland includes the compulsory study of foreign languages. Universities are autonomous in Poland, the curricula of a particular branch must be approved by the Faculty Council. Described the activity of language centers, in which a significant range of foreign language courses is offered. The programs of such language courses are relevant and adapted both to the specialty of students and to the modern requirements of the labor market. Teaching foreign languages is carried out using didactic innovations. Such centers accompany students during the study of foreign languages and provide a high level of student satisfaction with the educational process. Emphasized the expedience of studying and implementing language courses and international programs, because the modern educational space of Poland, in order to modernize foreign language education, tries to harmonize the content and structure of students of all specialties, increase the material and technical base of higher education, ensure active participation of students and teachers in international programs. Analyzing the curricula and training programs for technical specialties in Polish universities, it is proved that they are created on a modular principle and focused on the graduates’ future professional success of technical higher educational institutions. Each educational establishment in its curricula contains required disciplines for students to study according to their specialization and disciplines that can be chosen by students depending on their desires, professional preferences, requirements of the labor market.
