Psychological and pedagogical conditions of competence-oriented personality development

Abstract

The relevance of the topic disclosed in the article is caused by the need for the development of the New Ukrainian School, the trend towards an increase in demand for quality education and upbringing, on updating the forms and methods of organizing the educational process in educational institutions. In modern conditions of the development of Ukrainian society the transition to new educational standards and the issues of upbringing a healthy, successful and well-mannered generation are of particular importance and priority. The leading task of the New Ukrainian School is to bring up a student. One of the factors of this is the development of cross-cutting skills and the formation of competencies. The formation of the competencies of students is one of the most urgent tasks of modern education, since they are a prerequisite for their success in everyday life, including the motives, knowledge and skills necessary for successful interaction with the social environment on the one hand, and the well-being and self-perception of a person in a changing society on the other. The article reveals the concept of «personality development» and «competency-based development». The theoretical analysis of the concept of competently oriented personality development is described and its psychological content is revealed.

The basic technologies that support competency training are also analyzed in this article. Particular attention is paid to the personal potential of the teacher, his general and professional culture, without which it is impossible to solve existing problems of teaching and education, the search for new pedagogical ideas, technologies, methods and approaches in accordance with new requirements. Based on the theoretical analysis of sources and literature, the following psychological and pedagogical conditions of competency-based development of the personality  of a student in the New Ukrainian School are outlined: activity of a an individual (self-education, activity, motivation, communication); optimal, comfortable and psychologically safe educational environment of the educational institution; motivated and successful teacher; close cooperation and partnership between teachers, students and parents; competency-based learning technologies.
