Modern feminitives as reflection of the social challenges of nowdays
Abstract
The article is devoted to femininities, ie the names of women by field of activity, profession, position, social status, family ties, etc. It is substantiated that this phenomenon is not new in the Ukrainian language, but on the contrary, is considered a specific feature of the Ukrainian language as a system. Accordingly, the subject of the study of femininities scientists consider as: the category of «femininity», «names of females», «names of women», «names of feminine beings», «names of women», «femininates» and «femininities», «feminine dominant» and «feminine innovation», «motion», etc.
It is confirmed that the structure of the Ukrainian language has a number of suffixes with which to form femininities, but today the most productive among them are the suffixes: -k-, -yc- (ya), -yn- (ya), -es-, -sh -, -yh, -ychk- (-ichk-), -yh. Thanks to them that we form nouns from masculine nouns to denote females. Using a number of examples, models of femininity creation are analyzed in detail, in particular, it is demonstrated that the suffixes -sh-, -yh-, forming femininities, add an additional component to the lexical meaning of the word (general, director); some forms of feminine words with the suffixes -ychk- (-ichk-), -ih (a) -sh (a) do not meet the norms of literary language, giving words of familiar or derogatory meaning (manager, physicist, professor, announcer), and some innovations are formed only due to replacement. Remarkable «spark» in the creation of femininities is the «magic» word of Mrs. (Mrs. General, Mrs. President, Mrs. Minister).
The authors are convinced that feminists have withstood the test of time and are now one of the largest lexical subsystems of the Ukrainian language.
