Educational potential of historical sources in the forming of civic values of future doctors
Abstract
In the conditions of war, the problem of civic education of the youth called to make the contribution to victory of the Homeland is peculiarly actual. It has been analyzed a number of historical sources at the article. It has been defined national, civic spiritual values that should be formed in future doctors in the context of their social roles – as people, professionals, public figures.
For future doctors it is especially important to understand the historical and philosophical basis of the concept of human dignity in order to develop it in themselves, to respect patients, to implement it in the context of civic responsibility arising from awareness of the concept of «dignity» (worthy human, worthy deed, worthy civil position etc.). In order to prepare future doctors for civic duty – inspired devotional service to people / patients – it is necessary to rely on the basic values of spiritual content, first of all, love (for the profession, for people, for their country). In the article the concept of «philosophy of heart» by Hryhorii Skovoroda, who interprets the pure heart as the essence / manifestation of a true human in the existential context has been analyzed.
This approach causes the practical applying of a culture of pure conscience / pure heart in ensuring spiritual endurance, stress resilience of both doctors and patients, as well as compassionate, honest and fair treatment of people to each other. Also it has been characterized charity, as a value and synonym of holiness. In this context, the doctor / citizen lifestyle in which there are good deeds, charity, compassion for socially vulnerable categories of society, service to people in general, expresses the meaning of true «practical» holiness.
In article, it has been presented ways of forming of civic responsibility, as well as culture of psychological / spiritual health of the person. That can be used by future doctors in the process of professional, educational, public activity.
