The development tendencies of provision of foreign language training of philology masters in higher education institutions of Ukraine at the present stage
Abstract
The article highlights the problems of program provision of foreign language training of philology masters – future English language teachers. The purpose of the presentation is to reveal the main programming trends of master’s education in Ukraine at the end of the past and on beginning of the current century. The author focuses on the provision of master’s training, since the second level of higher education has the greatest potential for the formation of a competent specialist-innovator, a conscious mover of social development.
The sources in the work are dissertation studies and monographic works of domestic scientists regarding the general principles of the development of the master’s degree and about graduate training of teachers of foreign languages, mainly – English language. Considerable attention is paid to integration processes in the development of Ukrainian education, the European vector of transformational changes is clearly defined in the formation of the content of master’s education and determination of its results, significant in both cultural and economic terms, and in a personal sense.
The author focuses on the leading transformative trends changes, the most important of which are called the differentiation of the content of education and forms of control over its results at various levels of higher education, the variability of the training content and its competence orientation, European integration and personal orientation of professional training, which are typical for the end of the 20th - the first decades of the current century; a close connection between the educational and professional program and programs of academic disciplines is approved.
The article clarifies and deepens the terms and concepts of «education program», «components of the content of education», «program providing development trends» of foreign language training for master’s education. The presentation of the material is intended for students of higher education and teachers of higher education who are interested in the problems of program provision for graduate education in Ukraine and in the European space.
