The influence of social changes on the formation of ukrainian national identity of education applicants

Abstract

The article analyzes the content of such definitions as «identity», «national identity», their essential properties, the connection with the formation of the spiritual security of the Ukrainian nation. Attention is focused on the fact that social changes affect the formation of the identity of citizens.

On the basis of the analysis of scientific sources and legislative documents it has been substantiated the importance of forming national identity in unity with civil identity. The factors that had a negative impact on the formation of national identity, the means that were used to plant foreign values ​​in Ukraine are singled out. Turning to the results of sociological research, which includes the characteristics of individual parameters of identity, allows us to identify characteristic changes that have occurred in the identity of citizens of Ukraine.

Russia's military aggression has accelerated the processes of national and civic consolidation of Ukrainian society, where the ideas of freedom, democracy and state independence prevail. When forming Ukrainian national identity in children and youth, it is important to rely on historical truth, historical memory, national dignity, patriotism, and to promote children's understanding of the origins of the Ukrainian nation, the characteristic features of identity, the conditions for acquiring citizenship, etc.

It has been characterized theoretical approaches, ideas, trends add to the understanding of the peculiarities of the formation of Ukrainian national identity in modern conditions, the causes and consequences of external intervention, the importance of developing countermeasures and defense mechanisms, which is especially important for the education system as one of the subjects of the formation of Ukrainian national identity in children and youth.
