The nature, structure and content of the teacher’s competence in the field of creating and using websites for the needs of educational activities

Abstract

The article highlights the essence of a teacher's competence in the field of creating and using websites for the needs of educational activities, which is an important component of their digital competence. Its structure and content are theoretically substantiated. The author emphasises the need to develop the relevant competence of pedagogical staff as one of the requirements of the professional standard for the professions of «Primary school teacher at a general secondary school», «Teacher at a general secondary school», «Primary school teacher (with a junior specialist diploma)» and the professional standard of the principal (director) of a general secondary school. In particular, the work focuses on developing the competence of teachers and educational leaders who do not have specific training in IT. The creation of personal websites and blogs will allow them to share their own pedagogical experiences and solve the problem of creating a personal e-portfolio. On the basis of the analysis of scientific and theoretical sources, it is proved that most authors focus on the content of educational websites, creation and use of search engines, etc., while a small number of works are devoted to the formation of competence of teachers in the creation of personal websites or blogs. Particular emphasis is placed on teachers’ understanding of the purpose and tasks of creating websites for educational purposes, their features, ability to use templates to create educational websites, awareness of how to register domain names and obtain hosting, knowledge of the basics of web design and web security, ability to optimise a website for search engines, and focus on the needs of the target audience of website users. The issues raised in the paper shift the emphasis in the development of digital literacy among teachers, making them active participants in the digitisation of the education system. The proposed approaches are aimed at changing the mentality of teachers and educational leaders and improving the quality of educational services in Ukraine.
