Artificial intelligence in education of learners with special educational needs
Abstract
This article explores the role of artificial intelligence in educating individuals with special educational needs. The author examines the relevance of implementing inclusive education and the challenges associated with ensuring equal access to quality education for all learners. The paper analyzes the regulatory framework governing inclusive education in Ukraine and outlines its key principles. Particular attention is paid to the potential of AI in enhancing the educational process for individuals with special needs. The article discusses various applications of AI, including adaptive learning, assistive technologies, progress monitoring, emotional intelligence, virtual assistants, and predictive analytics. The author describes the methods of machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, and computer vision that underpin these technologies. The paper also highlights the possibilities of using AI language models, such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Copilot, for personalizing educational content, providing interactive support, language adaptation, and assessment. The author emphasizes the need for an interdisciplinary approach and ethical use of AI in education. The study examines the challenges and limitations of AI application in inclusive learning, including issues of context understanding, ethical concerns, and the impact on teachers' roles. The article outlines prospects for further research in this field, including the development of specialized algorithms, integration with neurotechnologies, and improvement of methods for personalizing educational trajectories. The author concludes that AI has significant potential to enhance the quality and accessibility of education for individuals with special educational needs, contributing to their full integration into the educational environment and society as a whole. However, the paper also stresses the importance of addressing ethical considerations and ensuring that AI technologies are developed and implemented in a way that respects the diversity of learners and promotes inclusive educational practices.
