Pedagogical professional colleges of Ukraine in the historical retrospective of formation (second half of the 19th – 80s of the 20th centuries)
Abstract
The article analyzes the historical retrospective of the formation and development in the second half of the 19th – 80s of the 20th century of various types of educational institutions, which, being the origins and precursors of modern professional pedagogical colleges in Ukraine, largely determined the network of their territorial location and formed traditions that affect the nature of the organization of their educational process. The reconstruction of the network of educational institutions that became the origins of the formation of pedagogical schools and colleges in the newest period of statehood was carried out on the basis of a territorial-regional approach, which determines the division of regions of Ukraine into separate regions and allows to clarify the common and special features in the development of educational institutions located on their territory. This reconstruction is based on two models: a three-part model, which allows tracing the continuity of development of different types of educational institutions from the original – pre-Soviet (first half of the 19th century – 1914–1915) to the Soviet (1920–1980s) and modern (since 1991), and a two-part model, in which the first component is missing. In total, about 50 educational institutions were in the focus of the study.
The common and special features of the process of emergence and development of institutions of secondary pedagogical education in the second half of the 19th – 80s of the 20th century in the regions of Ukraine were clarified: Western (Lviv, Mukachevo, Sambir, Volodymyr-Volynskyi, Kolomyia, Ternopil, Chortkiv, Dubno Pedagogical Colleges); Northern (Berdychiv, Bila Tserkva, Bohuslav, Kyiv, Konotop, etc.); Eastern (Krasnohrad, etc.); Central (Korsun-Shevchenkivskyi, Oleksandriia); Southern (Dnipro, Novyi Buh). A general matrix of successive changes in the dominant types of secondary pedagogical educational institutions that marked the prehistory of the formation of modern pedagogical colleges has been derived: teacher's seminary (second half of the 19th century – 1914–1915), pedagogical courses and schools (1920–1926), pedagogical technical school (1924–1941), pedagogical school (since 1944–1945).
