FUNCTIONS AND ROLE OF STEAM-ORIENTED EDUCATIONAL ENVIRONMENT OF PRIMARY SCHOOL FOR STEAM EDUCATION DEVELOPMENT
Abstract
The article is devoted to the problems of STEAM-oriented educational environment creation for the STEAM-education development. The purpose of the article is to identification and substantiation the role and functions of the STEAM-oriented education environment for the STEAM education development. Creating a STEAM-oriented educational environment is a significant solution for the STEAM education development, since its functional support will ensure communication between the subjects of the educational process, supporting STEAM training tasks and evaluating their outcomes, students identify the steps involved in planning the production of designed solutions, access to various data sources; promoting the motivation of the educational process subjects to participate in educational projects in the fields of STEAM, the formation of responsible behavior of students in the implementation of these projects and the development of teachers’ professional competence to encourage the subjects of the educational process to participate in these projects, appropriate use of computers oriented educational tools, electronic educational resources, tools and services of the local information and communication networks of the educational institution to facilitate the implementation of educational process according to the curriculum. STEAM-oriented educational environment can be used as an effective component of teachers’ professional development, are complementary to more traditional forms of in-service teacher training and stimulate morale and motivation. Prospects for further research are to identify the main components of the STEAM-oriented education environment to support learning activities in the study of subjects in the natural and mathematical cycle, robotics and the formation of creative thinking in them through the use of various branches of art.
