V.O. SUHOMLINSKY'S IDEAS DEVELOPMENT ON PERSONAL-SOCIAL EDUCATION IN THE CONTEXT OF FORMATION OF POLYCULTURAL COMPETENCE OF MATHEMATICS TEACHERS

Abstract

The article explored perspective directions of introduction the key ideas of Vasyl Sukhomlinsky educational concept into the process of formation the multicultural competence in modern pedagogy. It revealed the systematical links of Vasyl Sukhomlinsky’s idea about personal-social education with basic concepts of Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) project «THE FUTURE OF EDUCATION AND SKILLS. Education 2030». The necessity of radical innovations aimed at improving the quality of education causes the search of realization the public request for agencial nature of modern education. Formation of the multicultural competence of the teachers of mathematics is a perspective aim in their postgraduate education. Started by Vasyl Sukhomlinsky the discussion about humanitarian and social trends in modern education has the durable meaning links with main goals of the instructional systems in the whole world, especially on the problem of formation the teacher’s polycultural competence. In order to advance the postgraduate education of the teachers of mathematics in this direction we offer them participation in the project «The cultural codes of mathematics». The project answer the question «How the idea about the unity of intellectual and emotional education, developed by Vasyl Sukhomlinsky, can be realized in the teaching of mathematics?». This project reflects modern educational trends and innovative pedagogical technologies and digital instruments, including the participation in the webquests, visiting the world-famous virtual museums in order to improve the educational process of studying mathematics by pupils heaving learning problems. Such activity of teachers and students may serve as a modern technology of the formation their polycultural competence, necessary to answer the questions like «What knowledge, skills, attitudes and values will today’s students need to thrive and shape their world?» and «How can instructional systems develop these knowledge, skills, attitudes and values effectively?».
