Career guidance potential of steam-project «Spiritual geometry of Ukrainian embroidery» as an integral part of the new philosophy of natural and mathematical education
Abstract
The article explored perspective directions of introduction the key ideas of STEAM-projects, which can be considered like a pedagogical technology of implementation the Concept of development the natural and mathematical education (STEM- education) approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine order. An important confirmation of the relevance of this direction (STEM-direction) on the field of education we find on the international level, for example on the resource EDUCATION COMMISSION OF THE STATES. The information of this resource confirms that the demand for STEM-professions in the labor market is increasing constantly, that's why many American universities propose various STEM-specialties for training. STEM-direction in the modern Ukrainian education system is considered as an important way of its further development. STEM- education in Ukraine is aimed at generating new pedagogical ideas and knowledges, finding solutions to the problem of correspondence educational content to the demands of national labor market. To carry out this task Ukrainian Ministry of Education approved new interdisciplinary educational programs, including STEM-oriented programs. These programs combine the processes of education and formation the competencies to use knowledge in the practice of self-sustained research based on solid motivation to expand knowledge which is necessary for conscious choice of future profession.The project «Spiritual geometry of Ukrainian embroidery» is dedicated to completing the assignment of introduction the key ideas of national STEM- education and its expansion in the STEAM-direction (STEM and ARTS). The author and scientific supervisor of this project, suggested to the teachers of mathematics of Rivne region, project participants, to take part in the development the multicultural competence of their students in the process of studying the school geometry course. Along with this, participating in the project, the students will have a great opportunity to explore how the mathematical knowledge ensures the harmony and beauty of the ornaments of Ukrainian embroidery and, perhaps, to choose one of the future STEM-professions, such as embroideress, clothes designer, specialist in computer design of ornaments etc.
