Probabilistic and statistical content line in the productive teaching of school mathematics
Abstract
The article substantiates the problem of formation of probabilistic and statistical content line in the school course of mathematics. The tendency to introduce a probabilistic and statistical lines are reflected in various international researches. It has been focused on the definition of classical, statistical data, probability and on the transition to the axiomatic approach in the formation of the concept of probability and construction of probabilistic model on random experiment. It has been given examples of competency problems based on the explanation of the content and construction of a mathematical model.
The concept of «productive teaching» is considered as an organized cooperation of teachers and students, which is aimed at maximum assimilation and awareness of educational material with the subsequent application of acquired knowledge, skills and abilities in practice and life situations.
The article describes one of the effective tools for productive teaching of students in the study of statistics and probability theory – information technologies, including Microsoft Excel spreadsheet and simulation program Phet, which provides a description of the actions and learning objectives of a computer experiment. Examples of expedient programs of mathematical purpose are given. It is mentioned about the support of studying the probabilistic and statistical line by special tasks and exercises in the course of computer science. The areas of application of the probabilistic and statistical line in sociological surveys, employment, elections, biological and psychological experiments and clinical trials of drugs are outlined (an example is given). The fundamentals of the probabilistic and statistical line are emphasized and the perspective directions of its study are outlined.
