METHODS OF CHILD STUDY:UPDATING V. SUKHOMLINSKY'S IDEAS IN THE NEW UKRAINIAN SCHOOL
Abstract
In article we actualized V. Sukhomlynskyi’s ideas regarding the method of studying a child. Also we proved that according to the state standard of higher education of Ukraine in the specialty «013 Elementary education» of the higher education degree «bachelor» program results of training in the section «Professional Skills» stipulates that the modern elementary school teacher should have «methods of studying individual peculiarities of course elementary school students» as well as «make a psycho-pedagogical characteristic for the student and the class». And in the Professional standard «Elementary school teacher of elementary education» in the description of work functions of the teacher provides «the ability to organize and conduct pedagogical diagnostics of the student», which includes the teacher’s knowledge of «means of pedagogical diagnostics of social, moral qualities of the student’s personality». Authоr was found that the method of studying the child, substantiated by the principal of Pavlyshka Secondary School, included: studying the general physical development of the child, his state of health, illness; studying the family – father, mother, siblings, grandparents, parenting, student living conditions; study of temperament, character, self-esteem, emotions, will of personality, development of perception, thinking, feelings, interests, aspirations, volitional processes of the child. V. Sukhomlinskyi’s method of studying the child also included the study of the child as a subject of educational activity, the study of intellectual traits, value orientations, motives of behavior. The teacher substantiated the need to study the moral and spiritual qualities of the child, the moral education of students, the level of their cultural development. Sukhomlinskyi believed that the study of the child’s personality is an important task of the teacher, a peculiar result of which is the conclusion of the psychological and pedagogical characteristics of the student. At the same time, Vasily Sukhomlinskyi warned that the characteristic should not reflect the discipline and behavior of the student, because it is unnecessary, and sometimes, a harmful moment. Author proved that the ideas and methodological works of V. Sukhomlinskyi concerning the study of the child have not lost their relevance in our time.
