The peculiarities of working with gifted students in modern conditions on the example of conducting student online olympiads

Abstract

The article considers innovative forms of work with gifted children in preparing them for participation in online competitions, namely the use of distance learning in the modern education system, the search for new forms of organization of the pedagogical process. Thus, the increase in the amount of information forces the teacher to bring to the fore such forms and methods of work that would meet the needs of students in self-expression, contribute to the independent search for answers to questions that arise in the learning process.

A number of definitions of the concept of «distance learning», which is an innovative form of learning, has characteristic features, can be used in all types of educational practice, while ensuring the development of creative and personal components of the educational process. Particular attention is paid to the disclosure of the essence and content of the concept of «distance learning» in foreign and domestic scientific literature.

The structure of competitions in astronomy and astrophysics online is considered, the algorithm of actions of such form of their carrying out and use of distance learning technologies, one of the perspective forms of work with gifted children at preparation for All-Ukrainian and international subject Olympiads is defined.

In order to prepare this program and to select the most optimal form of holding the All-Ukrainian Olympiad in Astronomy and Astrophysics, a thorough study of the Olympiads in Germany, the USA, Estonia, and other countries, which took place remotely, was previously carried out.

It is concluded that the application of new approaches to the organization and work with gifted children allows teachers to reach a better level of the educational process, and the proposed materials on forms, methods, and other features of working with gifted children allow individuals to achieve significant results.
