Abstract
The article focuses on one of the priority areas of modern linguistics – the study of individual style of writers. It is emphasized that the study of the language of artists of the word allows us to trace the relationship between literary language and the language of fiction, to demonstrate the functioning of the national language in a certain period of life, although in the process of creativity each writer creates his own worldview, general culture, etc.
The linguistic and stylistic features of Ostap Vyshnya (Pavel Gubenko) «Funny Artists» story are analyzed. The specifics of the author’s creative style, his selection of language material in the process of verbal depiction of events, processes, heroes are determined. It is emphasized that the text of the story naturally intertwines elements of different functional styles – artistic, journalistic, scientific, conversational, which does not affect the fusion, the inseparability of the author’s text. Linguistic and stylistic means are defined: metaphors, personifications, terms, words with emotional shades of meanings, expressively colored words, exclamations and sound-imitating words.
Witty and artistically unique dialogues are singled out as one of the main means of characterization and evaluation of characters. Dialogues are characterized by ambiguity, vital content, colorfulness. They have direct information about the little artist, the circumstances of the action, the situation, and the author’s assessment of the portrayed.
The linguistic and stylistic means selected by Ostap Vyshnya to create verbal pictures of the story «Funny Artists» increase the reader’s attention to a certain expression, word, verbally depicted gallery of artistic images of circus artists. The tokens familiar to everyone in the text acquire new meanings, shades, and as a result children receive new impressions, admire the heroes of the work, their performances.
