Improvement of musical art teacher’s professional competence through participation in research team’s activities

Abstract

The authors analyze different approaches to understanding of the professional competence of a musical art teacher. The term «professional competence of a musical art teacher» is interpreted as readiness («want») and ability («can») to the music-educational activities based on the music-pedagogical knowledge and skills, experience of emotionally integral attitude to the phenomena of music art in accordance with social requirements and values.

The authors distinguish three components in the structure of professional competence of a musical art teacher: a value-oriented component, which includes the need to communicate with music and children, reasons for self-development, self-realization, self-improvement, ideals of harmony, goodness, beauty, models of a professional in a music pedagogy, aesthetic tastes, will and perseverance; a cognitive component includes the ability to master professional knowledge (psychologically pedagogical, artistic, music-theoretical, music-historical, methodological), the ability to design music-educational process, conduct an analysis, evaluation, systematization, and description of your own experience, etc.; a practical-creative component is associated with musical-performing and creative abilities, as well as skills to organize artistic, musical-performing, musical-creative activities and organize interaction between participants in the educational process.

According to the authors, the improvement of professional competence of a musical art teacher can be performed through the teacher’s participation in the activities of the research team; adaption to musical and pedagogical innovation; development and implementation of new methods as well as technologies of musical education; arranging scientific-practical and methodical seminars, masterclasses about topical issues; the spread of scientific ideas and foremost musical and pedagogical experience through scientific and methodological publications, etc.

The article presents specific results of the temporary research team of musical art teachers based on the topic «Technology of collective music as a way of self-expression of students in musical activities», which was held on the basis of Rivne Regional Institute of Postgraduate Pedagogical Education and Rivne State University of Humanities from 2017 to 2021.
