Forming tools for the basics of life safety in the general secondary education institutions
Abstract
The issue of compliance with safe conditions of study and work in connection with the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and Russian military aggression against Ukraine has been updated. The formation of the basics of life safety is defined as a specially directed activity of teachers to provide pupils with a set of knowledge about the rules of a person's safe stay in natural, man-made, and social environments, and in various life situations.
The forming tools for the basics of life safety for general secondary education institutions pupils have been characterized. Attention is focused on the educational opportunities of the explanatory infographics collection «Safety Alphabet in Educational Institutions» created by us. The collection contains 10 thematic headings related to safety rules, pre-medical assistance and informational and psychological-pedagogical support during war and emergencies. As an effective tool of preventive education, the manuals of the «I explore the world of professions» series, developed as part of the all-Ukrainian experiment «Professional Orientation in the New Ukrainian School», have been considered. The content of the «Safety Alphabet for a Secondary School Student» prepared by the Department of Communication of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine has been disclosed in the focus of the security competencies formation.
It was established that the proposed tools for creating the basics of life safety are characterized by multifacetedness, potential, adaptability, and prognosticity regarding the organization of quality preventive education. They contribute to the safety competencies formation of the educational process participants, their positive motivation for a safe lifestyle, prevention, and countermeasures against negative safety phenomena.
The integration of the formation tools for the basics of life safety in the educational process through the interrelationships of content lines and educational branches has been singled out at the level of prospects for further scientific research.
