Development of social competence of medical and pharmaceutical education students in the process of studying natural disciplines

Abstract

The article updates the problem of the development of social competence of medical and pharmaceutical students, which combines education and training in social and professional interaction.

Scientific research on the outlined problem in terms of pedagogy and psychology of students of different age categories was analyzed.

The content of the social competence of the student of medical and pharmaceutical education has been clarified, and the structural components have been substantiated.

The following characteristics are revealed: motivation for socio-professional improvement, social activity, emotional intelligence, socio-professional mobility, critical thinking, communication skills, empathy, self-observation, self-knowledge and self-awareness as a bio-social being, objectivity of self-analysis, self-criticism and self-evaluation as a student and personality.

It has been indicated the importance of education as a social institution for purposeful development of members of society; formation of national and professional patriotism; valuable attitude to life, health and nature.

The importance of studying the disciplines of the scientific and natural cycle in medical and pharmaceutical education institutions has been clarified, which contributes to students' awareness of biological and social significance in human ontogenesis, formation of personality and health care specialist.

It has been emphasized that a person is a biosocial being with characteristic features of living organisms and socio-psychological characteristics of an individual: thinking, consciousness, speech, activity. Examples of topics from biology, genetics, human anatomy and physiology, ecology are given. While studying these topics the students become aware of their biosocial nature.

It has been recommended to use educational interactive technologies that promote teamwork, cooperation, and the development of social competence.
