Lexical anglicisms as an indicator of modern fashion trends in the ukrainian language

Abstract

The article examines the main aspects of the use of anglicisms in Ukrainian colloquial speech, as well as an analysis of the semantic groups of the specified nominations. The main reasons for borrowing English equivalents in the modern Ukrainian language are outlined, in particular, linguistic and extramural factors of the phenomenon under study are singled out. The process of the spread of anglicisms in the modern language space is substantiated; the reasons for their popularity and the regularity of their use are traced. The authors presented a number of researches and publications outlining the relevance and debatable aspects of the presented issues. The definition of the concept of «Anglicism» is presented and its influence on all spheres of social life in Ukraine is characterized. Anglicisms are considered not only as a language concept, but primarily as a nomination for emphasizing fashionable and trendy elements in speech. Certain thematic groups of English loanwords are singled out, in particular in the field of computer technology and social networks, sports, culture, politics, economy and trade, as well as in everyday life and modern fashion trends. Emphasis is placed on the intensification of anglicisms in the military sphere, which gained popularity with the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian war. The process of evolution of English loanwords in the Ukrainian language space is analyzed, it is emphasized that it occurs in accordance with the laws of the Ukrainian language at the phonetic, graphic, grammatical and semantic levels. The attitude of modern linguists to the use of anglicisms in the Ukrainian language is substantiated, and the influence of the process of their borrowing on modern culture in general is characterized. It is summarized that in the information society, where technological development is a decisive factor, anglicisms are widely used to denote new technologies, software and other social innovations.
