Characteristics of formation of Kharkiv professional-academic bandura school
Abstract
Bandura art is considered as a historical and cultural, artistic phenomenon that is part of the spiritual heritage of the Ukrainian people and combines folklore and academic traditions. It is a phenomenon in the history of national musical culture, which dates back to the art of kobza. In the depths of kobzarism the basic principles and techniques of bandura playing and the repertoire of wandering blind musicians were formed.
The article outlines the stages of formation and development of professional bandura art in Kharkiv. The processes of formation of the Kharkiv academic school, as well as the activity of its head – Hnat Khotkevych are characterized. It is pointed out that the famous ethnographer, bandura virtuoso, composer Khotkevych, who is the founder of professional bandura art, laid the foundations of music theory and folk music professionalism, introduced new genres of bandura works and a new type of bandura accompaniment.
It is proved that the Kharkiv educational center became the base of professional music education in Ukraine, the first methodological center that united all regional schools without exception and contributed to the general spread of professionalism in bandura art, and its wide involvement in educational activities. Having a solid experience as a theoretician-researcher, practical performer and organizer of music, G. Khotkevych consistently embodied the idea of development and popularization of national culture, organizing both educational and professional art groups.
The artist was the first in Ukraine to form a significant fund of pedagogical and concert repertoire for bandura and bandura orchestra. Thus, in the repertoire of modern bandura players a prominent place is occupied by arrangements of Ukrainian folk songs by G. Khotkevych, which were created for the Kharkiv bandura. The special contribution of the founder to the development of professional skills of performers and popularization of bandura art in Ukraine is noted.
